SPEAKER: Autumn Katz is a Senior Counsel for the Center for Reproductive Right’s U.S. Legal Program. She has litigated multiple cases in state and federal courts across the U.S., including a ban on state Medicaid funding for abortion, a law requiring fetal and embryonic tissue resulting from an abortion or miscarriage to be buried or cremated, and a requirement that doctors effectively lie to their patients by informing them it is possible to “reverse” the effects of an abortion. Autumn has also challenged mandatory waiting periods for abortion in Florida, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, where she recently led a team of attorneys in a four-day trial in late 2019. Prior to joining the Center in 2012, Autumn was a litigator at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, where she devoted a significant amount of time to pro bono matters involving civil and constitutional rights. Autumn has also served as a State Strategies Fellow for the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, providing legal analysis and strategic advice to ACLU affiliates on legislation affecting reproductive health services. She graduated from Michigan Law School in 2005 and from Washington University in 1998.
